Meet Josh...

Josh with his wife Katie and son SpencerJosh is an active member of our community who believes that the best ideas always come from working together. Josh is able to bring the right experience to serve as Alderman, with a professional career that includes working for a small non-profit, serving as a policy analyst in the public sector and now working for a public company. Because of this experience, Josh understands the importance of setting clear goals, asking tough questions to get the right answers and making every dollar count.

Josh will bring the experience, focus and fiscal discipline needed to successfully guide the city through today’s economy and help lay the foundation to create greater opportunities for our families and kids to live, work and play here in Frederick.

As a first time dad, Josh knows that the well being and safety of our kids should be our first priority. That’s why Josh rolled up his sleeves and worked with police and the community so residents could be heard, which made his neighborhood an even better place to live, where the local park has better lighting and kids can safely play. Josh was recognized for his service with a 2006 Governor’s Crime Prevention Award.

Josh will continue to be an advocate for kids in our city, bringing local businesses and residents together to champion new workforce school training programs and being a leading voice to the county for city school modernizations.

While serving on the city’s planning commission, Josh has applied his degree in community planning to being a strong advocate for increased public participation, and the need to create small area community plans so residents will be empowered to lead efforts for neighborhood reinvestment and revitalization.

Josh has also been a public advocate for the need to reinvest in our existing commercial corridors such as the Golden Mile as well as continued downtown revitalization via North Market Street and the East Street Gateway.

Josh has worked with other community leaders through the Neighborhood Advisory Councils to help bring together residents to discuss and take action on neighborhood issues. Josh has the experience and know-how to hit the ground running and bring people together at the same table to arrive at practical solutions that really work.

Decisions made locally matter, and with proper thought and care, they can directly improve the quality of our lives. Josh will bring , strong fiscal discipline, the ability to work successfully with others for practical solutions and a ‘can-do spirit’ to city hall.

Josh and his wife, Katie, are active participants of the community and can often be found pushing their son Spencer in his Cozy Coupe throughout their neighborhood or chasing him through Baker Park.
