Josh Bokee officially announced today his candidacy for City of Frederick Alderman, filing as a Democrat.
“Our best ideas always come from working together.” Josh said. “We have a great community and we want our streets to be safe, our neighborhoods vibrant and our families able to live, work and play here. With clear vision and real commitment, we can achieve great things and overcome any challenge.”
Josh’s professional career has encompassed working for a small non-profit, serving as a policy analyst in the public sector and now working for a Fortune 100 company.
“My experiences have taught me the importance of setting clear goals, asking tough questions to get the right answers and making every dollar count,” said Josh
As a volunteer in the Frederick community, Josh currently serves on the City’s Planning Commission, the United Way of Frederick County, the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, the Frederick Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Neighborhood Advisory Councils. Josh is a graduate of Leadership Frederick.
Said Meta Nash, Chair of the City Planning Commission, “ Josh will bring the same attributes he has already consistently demonstrated; listening with an open mind, working hard to find common ground (and solutions), thoroughness in analyzing complex issues, and dedication to achieving the best outcome for Frederick.”
“Just as many households are doing already, we need to plan ahead for the future. This means demonstrating leadership and strong fiscal discipline. We need to focus on strategies to create and retain quality jobs, practical transportation solutions that get us going again, and being an advocate for the schools and education programs within our city,” said Josh.
Delegate Rick Weldon said “Frederick needs a leader with vision, passion, and an understanding of how complex the issues are that face the city. Josh is exactly the right kind of leader at the right moment in time to help shape Frederick’s future.”
“We need to reach out to the entire community and work together to successfully navigate through the current economy and lay the foundation to create greater opportunities in the future for our families and kids to live, work and play here,” said Josh.
