  • Continue downtown revitalization, including the new East Street Gateway.
  • Create hi-tech and green-tech jobs by building public-private partnerships.
  • Create a citizen-led Golden Mile Business & Neighborhood Revitalization Taskforce.
  • Help new entrepreneurs grow jobs locally by launching a “One-stop Help Shop,” in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Work to make doing business easier by reviewing and revising the Land Management Code and Permitting Process.

Transportation that Gets Us Going and Keeps Us Safe!

  • Work with County, State, and U.S. officials to expand Rt. 15/I-270 and to improve MARC train & commuter bus service.
  • Improve pedestrian safety and traffic flow by fast-tracking intersection improvements citywide.
  • Expand the City’s bike path network
  • Complete Monocacy Boulevard.
  • Fund the Monocacy/US 15 interchange to improve safety on Rt. 15.

Think Green, Be Smart, Save Money!

  • Phase in hybrid replacements for the City’s fleet vehicles as they age out.
  • Save on energy costs by encouraging and setting energy efficient new building design standards.
  • Work with the county for better, faster and easier to use bus service.
  • Encourage additional citizen involvement upfront in the planning process.
  • Work with the County to preserve key watersheds and farmlands, and with the State to invest in existing neighborhood corridors.

Innovative & Efficient Local Government (that works for us!)

  • Establish a City Phone/Web Issues Hotline – Call It In, Track It, Resolve It!
  • Encourage City employees and residents to contribute innovative ideas for getting the best City services during lean times.
  • Implement an Open Door Policy at City Hall - Create a stronger mission for the Neighborhood Advisory Councils and utilize business-resident issue advisory boards.
  • Identify ways to reduce our dependence on the residential property tax by setting up a tax taskforce and working with the County, the Maryland Municipal League and Maryland Association of Counties.
